Barcelona, 1913. Alma is perhaps one of the most modern women of her day. Her husband, Dr. Leon Pardo, is a psychiatrist. This summer, he visited Vienna and became a follower of the revolutionary Dr. Sigmund Freud and his advanced theories about hysteria and sexuality. It all starts the afternoon Alma comes home and finds her husband in tears, about to disappear from her life and everyone else’s. So Leon runs off, leaving Alma alone and about to give birth. Salvador is Alma’s brother-in-law and a psychiatrist as well. He is much more conservative man than Leon, is deeply in love with Alma. The only clue they have is a manuscript about hysteria and female sexuality based on four strange patients..
L’ICEBERG
Fiona, Julien and their two clone-like children live a life appropriate to the robots they have become, in a suburb somewhere in the flatlands of French-speaking Europe. When Fiona, accidentally locks herself in the her fast-food restaurant, her family doesn’t even miss her. She realizes how pointless her life has become and runs away; to seek happiness, put her life right again and perhaps to visit the icebergs with which she begins an obsession. On a bus trip she becomes friendly with Fernande, who offers Fiona a place to stay in her seaside community. There, Fiona becomes attracted to René, who owns a small sailboat, and has been a deaf-mute since a fire in which his parents died. In time, the pair embark on a sailing voyage, unknowingly pursued by the persistent Julien, who has managed to track Fiona down.

Hayat, an end-of-teenage Turkish girl, is playing in a soccerteam when she suddenly fells unconscious. The medicals find cancer, a disease of which her mother died some years ago. Hayat survives, but loses one breast. Her father is seriously worried about his child and forbids any exhausting activities. Hayat escapes, but find herself soon being outcastet from her former team. On a small field she meets a new team with their trainer Toni and fells in love with him, but their relationship begins very complicated. And soon there will be the encounter with disease, former and present soccer team, father and, of course, Toni…
THE BEST MAN
After Olly Pickering and his youth friend and dorm mate Murray graduate, Olly, a promising author, gets a contract and advance, which somehow kills his nerve, even about using urinals. Writer’s block forces him to move into professionally successful Murray’s Soho (London) spare room and take a crappy job as publishing research assistant. Asked as New York trip friend James’s London wedding best man, Oly falls in love at the bachelor party. Alas the flirt turns out to be bride Sarah. Olly would graciously walk away, but sassy Murray keeps arranging, resourcefully, for them to meet and in the process gets on with her bitchy sister. Olly’s moral reserve is reconsidered when James admits he isn’t monogamous.

VIVA CUBA
In a tale akin to Romeo and Juliet, the friendship between two children is threatened by their parents’ differences. Malu is from an upper-class family and her single mother does not want her to play with Jorgito, as she thinks his background coarse and commonplace. Jorgito’s mother is a poor socialist that is proud of her family’s social standing. She places similar restriction on her son. What neither woman recognizes is the immense strength of the bond between Malu and Jorgito. When the children learn that Malu’s mother is planning to leave Cuba, they decide to travel to the other side of the island to find Malu’s father and persuade him against signing the forms that would allow it.
FOON - FUORI CONCORSO
A quasi-musical-comedy set in the early sixties in a college on the outskirts of West Philadelphia. For 15 years, the graduation ball has been the preserve of the Foons – those teenagers who are immersed in weird notions of fun and who describe themselves as “cool”. As they prepare for the graduation ball, it is decided to open up invitations to the nerd underdogs. The eternal rivalry between the cool kids and the nerds is played out with colourful costumes and kooky hairdos.
FESTIVAL - FUORI CONCORSO
‘Festival’ is a black comedy set during the annual Edinburgh Fringe festival. The film is based around both the judging of a major comedy award and the performers at one of the smaller venues. Various plot strands interweave, including the bitter relationship between a famous self-obsessed British comic and his ever-suffering assistant, an actress debuting at the festival with a one-woman show about Dorothy Wordsworth and a depressed, rich housewife who spies on the stoned Canadian theatre troupe to whom she has rented out her house.
