THE HUNGARIAN “BAD POEMS” WINS THE 16th MONTE-CARLO FILM FESTIVAL
The 16th edition of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie, the prestigious festival dedicated to comedy, conceived and directed by Ezio Greggio, is successfully concluded.
The jury, chaired by the world-renowned award-winning director Emir Kusturica and composed by Fellini’s icon Sandra Milo, French actress Mathilda May and director, screenwriter and actor Edoardo Leo, decided on the Palmares.
The award for best film went to the Hungarian ‘Bad Poems’ by Gabor Reisz, the film that tells the inner journey of the young Tamàs, disillusioned with love after the end of his long history with Anna.
The award for best director went to Nicole Palo for ‘Emma Peeters‘ with Monia Chokri and Fabrice Adde, a comedy that tells the story of the aspirant suicide Emma, disappointed by the failures of her existence, which will drastically change her life after the unexpected meeting with Alex Bodart, a funeral director.
The Argentine Ricardo Darin won the award for best actor for the film ‘An Unexpected Love‘ in which he plays Marcos, linked to Ana for 25 years, who suddenly begins to wonder about love, loyalty and life issues of couple.
Australian Rose Byrne wins Best Actress Award for the film ‘Juliet, Naked‘, the entertaining film based on the novel by Nick Hornby which tells the story of Annie and Duncan, obsessive fan of the mysterious rock star Tucker Crowe (played by Ethan Hawke ) that emerges from nothing with an unreleased album, giving an unexpected turn to the couple’s relationship between the two protagonists. The film also wins the public prize chosen by the jury chaired by Remo Girone.
To add to the awards, also the one for the best screenplay, awarded to Dan Kleinman and Sameh Zoabi for the Israeli film “Tel Aviv on Fire“, which tells in a comedy key the difficulties of dialogue between two perpetually conflicting peoples.
Also tonight, special awards will be given to the Gala evening of the Grimaldi Forum conducted by Ezio Greggio with Juliana Moreira: the Comedy Award to Paolo Genovese, Edoardo Leo and Antonio Albanese; the Career Award to Sandra Milo and Andrea Ferreol; the Monte-Carlo Film Festival Award to Salvatore Esposito and to international actor Michael Madsen; the King of Comedy to Carlo Verdone and the Legend Award to jury president Emir Kusturica.
Many guests who will parade on the red carpet of the awards ceremony, among these, in addition to the guests already mentioned also Arisa, the singer-songwriter returning from the success of the last Sanremo Festival, who will sing her latest hit “I feel good”.
The event takes place under the High Patronage of S.A.S. Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Italian Embassy and is organized in collaboration with EFG Private Bank. Radio Monte Carlo is media partner of the Festival.
