THE 14TH MONTECARLO FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS
The Monte-Carlo Film Festival came to a close on Sunday, March 5 with its customary Awards Gala in the Theater of the Grimaldi Forum.
As part of the Gala led by Ezio Greggio, creator and president of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival, the awards for the official competition chosen by the international jury presided over by director Michael Radford and consisting of US costume designer Deborah Landis, Italian actress Violante Placido and Variety film critic Peter Debruge.
Career awards were also presented to actors Monica Bellucci, Riccardo Scamarcio, Enrico Montesano, the French composer Michel Legrand, Rocco Papaleo, Gianfranco D’Angelo and to the Italian comedy duo Ficarra e Picone for their cinematic work.
Monica Bellucci was honored for “her extraordinary international career that brought her versatile talent and great personal fascination to leading roles on the sets of grand masters of cinema from Francis Ford Coppola to Giuseppe Tornatore, from Mel Gibson to Terry Gilliam, from Paolo Virzì to Kusturica”.
Director John Landis won the “Comedy Legend Award”, while Academy Award winner Costa Gavras was the recipient of the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.
An audience jury of more than one hundred under jury president Remo Girone gave the “Monte-Carlo Film Festival Audience Award” to the film Orecchie by Alessandro Aronadio.
