THE COMPLETE PROGRAM OF THE 14TH EDITION PREVIEW OF “QUESTIONE DI KARMA” BY EDOARDO FALCONE.
Monaco, February 23rd 2017, The English comedy This Beautiful Fantastic by Simon Aboud (Comes a Bright Day) with Jessica Brown Findlay (Downtown Abbey) and Tom Wilkinson will open the 14th edition of the Monte Carlo Film Festival as an out of competition screening.
The screenings in this year’s competition include the German comedy of the year Welcome to Germany (Wilkommen bei den Hartmanns) by Simon Verhoeven with Senta Berger and Elyas M’Barek; Kiki, Love to Love (Kiki, el amor se hace), third film by Spanish director Paco Léon with Natalia de Molina; The Distinguished Citizen (El Ciudadano Ilustre) by Mariano Cohn and Gaston Duprat, currently registred from Argentina at the Oscars for best foreign movie. The surreal American comedy Swiss Army Man, first work from Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as Daniels and Daniel Radcliffe (Main protagonist of the famous Harry Potter Saga) and Paul Dano; The Midwife by Martin Provost will preview for France and Monaco , starring French icon Catherine Deneuve and with Catherine Frot, Olivier Gourmet, and just seen at the Berlin film festival; Denmark’s comedy Three Heists and a Hamster by Rasmus Heide, third episode of the trilogy on Raf and Timo’s crazy adventures; Two Lottery Tickets (Doua Iozuri) a Romanian comedy by Paul Negoescu, interpreted by three stars of the Romanian new wave, Dragos Bucur (Police, Adjective and Dogs), Dorian Boguta (The Death of Mr. Lazarescu) and Alexandru Papadopol (Love Building); while the only Italian film in competition is Orecchie by Alessandro Aronadio, already a revelation at the Venice Film Festival.
On Saturday March 4th, the worldwide premier of Questione di Karma by Edoardo Falcone will be screened.
From the movies in competition directors Simon Aboud (My Beautiful Fantastic), Paul Negoscu (Two Lottery Tickets), Alessandro Aronadio (Orecchie), Rasmus Heide (Three Heists and a Hamster) and Edoardo Falcone (Questioni Di Karma) will be present at the festival, while actors Belén Cuesta (Kiki, Love to Love), Daniele Parisi and Niccoló Senni (Orecchie) and Jonathan Spang (Three Heists and an Hamster) will also join the festival.
Italian actress Violante Placido will be part of the international jury composed of the Variety’s critic Peter Debruge, costume designer Deborah Landis, member of the Academy Awards, and chaired by director Michael Radford (director of Il Postino with Massimo Troisi) who will award prizes to the best comedy, the best director and the best actors.
On Saturday March 4th at 5pm at the Theatre des Variétés, A cinema MASTER CLASS will take place with John Landis, Costa Gavras, Riccardo Scamarcio and Michael Radford.
